Hi lovelies,
Every scar has a story to tell. And I’m not anti-scar—stories are powerful.
But sometimes, we want them gone. Especially things like acne and ingrown hair scars—that story is one of frustration for most.
After 30 years as an esthetician, I've seen my fair share of scars.
I see a lot of acne aftermath. I also see surgical souvenirs, ingrown hair scarring, you name it.
Regardless of the scar, I have some tried and tested advice.
So let’s dive in.
Exfoliate! Obviously, I love my RadicalSeeker Honey Mask. Dermatologica’s Daily Microfoliant is also great. 2-3 a week max! So many people over-exfoliate.
Exfoliators If you shave, use a single-blade razor and shave in the direction of hair growth or, even better, opt for laser hair removal long-term.
For existing scars, I love SacredSalve. It is packed with Kokum butter, Rosehips oil, and Perilla oil, which are excellent for treating scar tissue. You can also try products containing retinaldehyde, which is in the retinol family. That said, many skin types don’t agree with retinoids (I wrote about that recently!).
Boost cell turnover with a natural retinol alternative like MoonLitFromWithin Face Oil. If you opt for standard retinol read this article to help you make the right choice.
MoonLitFromWithin Face Oil and Sacred Salve Microneedling is fantastic for scars and collagen production. I recommend the Procell micro-channeling treatment at Saving Faces.
Look for products with Niacinamide to reduce redness like our VibrantBoost Face Mist.
Chemical peels can help, but some are too harsh. This BioRepeel is one of the only peels I recommend, it’s amazing. You need to work with a professional for this peel. I order it at Saving Faces but search your area!
Boost your collagen production with Cataplex C. It’s a great supplement for scarring.
VibrantBoost Face Mist, BioPeel and Cataplex-C Use serums with exosomes, peptides, or growth factors to help with healing. Just wait until the wound has closed.
Protect the scar from sun exposure. I have a whole episode of sun. Sun is great but not the best for scars.
A note on birthmarks
While not technically scars, birthmarks are often treated similarly. I've seen remarkable fading in some birthmarks with consistent treatment. However, results vary greatly depending on the type of birthmark.

Massage can be super beneficial for almost all types of scars. It helps break down scar tissue and improves circulation. Here's how to do it:
Wait until the wound is fully closed—obvious but important.
Use a gentle, circular motion.
Apply light pressure—it shouldn't hurt.
Use an oil or lotion to reduce friction. Our SacredNaked Body Oil is perfect for this.
Massage for 5-10 minutes, 2-3 times daily. Note: Rolling the scar tissue might be uncomfortable but it shouldn’t be painful.
And remember, every scar tells a story. While it's natural to want to minimize their appearance, it's also important to embrace the journey your skin has been on. Scars are a testament to your body's incredible ability to heal.
